Nervous about trying natural deodorant? Or been let down by subpar clean deodorant? This nontoxic deodorant may be your new best friend for fighting odor, naturally. Here's my full review of Primally Pure's Clean Deodorant.
Anyone who has made the switch to natural deodorant can tell you that it's not the easiest process. Finding a nontoxic deodorant that works for you can feel a little like kissing frogs. I went through a few formulas myself before landing on the one I've been using for years - Primally Pure. Here's my honest review of Primally Pure natural deodorant.

Why You Need A Clean Deodorant
For me, switching to clean deodorant was an easy choice. The main ingredient in typical antiperspirant deodorants is aluminum, which has been linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease. While the evidence is inconsistent and lacking, the ability for aluminum to interfere with estrogen receptors has been demonstrated. Furthermore, other chemicals commonly found in typical drugstore deodorants have been linked to breast cancer too. Even a small amount of evidence is enough cause for me to avoid regular deodorant, given my genetic predisposition to breast cancer.
When I decided to make the switch to natural products several years ago, deodorant was one of the first products I focused on, since I use it daily and in close proximity to susceptible breast tissue. That said, it's a process finding the right natural deodorant. Not all of them are created equal.

Primally Pure Deodorant: My Honest Review
Ingredients: 10/10
This is one of the cleanest formulas I have come across. It is made with recognizable ingredients, including baking soda, kaolin clay, and non-nano zinc oxide, as well as other good-for-you organic ingredients including grass-fed tallow, fair trade coconut oil, arrowroot powder, beeswax and essential oils.
Experience: 8/10
It's deodorant, so it's not exactly a spa-worthy ritual. That said, the deodorant comes in nice packaging that you swipe on like traditional deo (no rubbing gunk from a jar under your pits!), and each scent I've tried smells nice, except for the unscented of course, which speaks for itself. It goes on almost sheer, and though you may find a little on your clothes every once in a while, it hasn't stained any of my clothes.
Performance: 8/10
This deodorant outperforms almost all natural deodorants I've tried! While it won't keep you from sweating (no natural deodorant will because it's free from aluminum!) it does keep me from stinking on normal days. I live in a very hot place, so some summer days require an extra application, but overall I find it pretty darn effective, especially the charcoal version.
Value: 8/10
Primally Pure deodorant is a little more expensive than the natural kinds you may find on the shelves of Target or Sprouts, but I can assure you it works much better! I appreciate that they also offer smaller sizes that you can use to test a new scent or throw in travel bags. And you can get a discount for subscribing.
Overall: 8.5/10
Overall Impressions
There is a reason I keep going back to Primally Pure deodorant. I've used the Charcoal, Lavender, Unscented and Vanilla-Citrus versions, and find that they are all effective and smell nice. They keep me fresh for the most part (except for super hot, sweaty days) and I feel good knowing that the ingredients are super clean and healthy.
