It can be hard to settle on a dry shampoo with clean ingredients that actually works. I tried Cleo+Coco natural dry shampoo powder with a non-aerosol pump applicator - is it the answer to reliably refreshing my locks between hair washes? Read my full review!

If you're anything like me and don't have time for daily hair washing and styling, you probably rely on dry shampoo at least some of the time to get you though the days you skip a full shampoo. But not all dry shampoos are created equal. While some contain harmful ingredients, others in the 'clean' category just fall, well, flat. In my quest to find the perfect natural dry shampoo, I tried Cleo+Coco, a popular brand available on Amazon. Is it everything I'd hoped? Find out in my full, honest review!

Why You Need a Clean Dry Shampoo
If you're a busy mama (or a busy woman who's not a mama!) you know that finding the time to wash, dry and style your hair every day can be more than challenging. Using a dry shampoo can help absorb excess oil and add volume to limp, greasy hair, extending the time between washes.
Many dry shampoos available on drugstore shelves use toxic ingredients like talc, benzene, and synthetic fragrance. Talc and benzene have been linked to cancer1, while synthetic fragrances2 can be endocrine disruptors, affecting the reproductive system. Not exactly ingredients we want to be using on a daily basis! But there are healthier alternatives for dry shampoo available. You'll want to look for formulas with an absorbing ingredient, such as arrowroot power, corn starch, rice starch, or kaolin clay. And ideally one with essential oils as the only fragrance.

Product Name: My Honest Review
Ingredients: 10/10
The ingredients in this plant-based formula are squeaky clean. With only natural starches, charcoal and essential oils, I have no questions about what I'm using on my body here!
Experience: 6/10
I had high expectations for the pump bottle versus a formula I have to sprinkle in, which I typically make a mess with. However, I somehow end up making a bigger mess with this. I always end up with the powder all over my face, clothes, and the floor. I do love the smell of the product, though. The grapefruit bergamot scent is refreshing and uplifting, but not too strong. I've also used the lavender scent, which also smells good.
Performance: 6/10
Once again, I was disappointed here. I have to use quite a bit of product to get full coverage on my hair, which is not very thick. It does absorb oil just fine (not the best), but the performance wanes throughout the day, and I have to start over with application again the next day to refresh my hair again.
Value: 6/10
If the product worked better and I didn't have to use so much, the value would be just fine. It's about the same price as similar products. However, with having to use so much, it's not the best deal out there. You can get it on sale on Amazon sometimes for a better price and free shipping if you have prime.
Overall: 7/10
Overall Impressions
I want to love this product, but for me, it's not worth the money. While the ingredients are fantastic and the applicator is awesome in theory, the performance is not there. The pleasant scent is not enough to justify the mediocre performance, so I probably will not purchase it again. Perhaps if there were a refill option, it would change my mind, but for now, I'll stick to my current favorite dry shampoo.
